Kirsty has had over 15 years’ experience working therapeutically with children, families and individuals in a variety of settings including community and government based agencies. She is currently working in private counselling practice and was previously employed as a Child and Family Counsellor for the Children’s Counselling Service, She has developed and Facilitated the ‘Keeping Children Safe Program’ in Schools, has worked in the area of victim Support for the Family Violence Court and for the Health Department.
Kirsty has developed a number of group work programs and is currently writing a Strength Based Parenting book and accompanying parenting and attachment programs. Kirsty holds a Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Curtin University and has also had formal training in the areas of Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mental Health and Trauma and Attachment.
Kirsty works from a Strength Based Perspective, working collaboratively with clients using a solution rather than problem focused approach, which respects and acknowledges the existing qualities and strengths within families and expands on these through the therapeutic process to build stronger relationships, increased self-esteem and promote more desirable behaviours and challenge unhelpful thought processes.
Kirsty draws on a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, interpersonal Therapies and System’s Theory in supporting individuals and families to explore issues.. Kirsty works from a client centred, solution focused and strength based approach to assist her clients to achieve their personal goals and reach their full potential.

Kirsty has achieved both Advanced Accreditation and Accredited Mental Health Status through the Australian Association of Social Work and is registered as a Medicare Provider under the Better Access to Mental Health Care and Chronic Disease Management Program and the Access to Allied Psychological Services Program. Medicare rebates apply to this service with a Doctor's referral.
